So the eldest child is out of the house and the second child is off to college in August 2011. We decided after a trip
to Florida in February of 2011 that we would attempt to sell the 2007 Jayco hybrid and the 2004 Ford F150. We advertised and
sold them seperately.
Our thoughts turned to camping and motorcycling but we didn't want to go back to a pop up camper made for motorcycle
towing. With 2 chocolate labs we knew we wanted space and comfort. Crawling over each other to get out of a bunk was getting
old. We knew we wanted a rear bed and a slide out. So while we advertised the Jayco for sale I began research into the very
wide field of Class C rigs.
The Jayco went to a lovely family only 30 minutes from us. They have small children and the 3 bunks in the Jayco made
it a great fit for them. They are tent campers and this is their first rv.
The truck was sold about a month after the Jayco. Blaise then purchased a smaller truck (Ford Ranger) and then we
began our search for a Class C in earnest. After looking at a few rigs I happened on a 2004 Winnegabo 31'. We contacted the
owners and they met us in Springfield Mass. to look over the rig. I was convinced this was the one! A few weeks later and
we drove it home.
The Winnebago is in great shape. Tires will be replaced early in 2012. Right now we are making it "ours"...loading it
up, cleaning, rearranging. Blaise is doing some maintenaince- priming and repainting some of the full basement storage compartments
and the sides of the slide. We are planning on putting in a lp gas fitting for our outside stove- the one from our 2002 Coleman
Utah.
We also purchased a 7'x12' enclosed trailer for the motorcycles. An electric brake controller needs to be added to the
"C" and maybe a wireless backup camera.
We're still deciding on trips. I believe those decisions will be made over the winter. Right now we're scheduled for
a shake down run on July 22.
